Grade X52 indicates 52000 PSI minimum yield strength and 66000 PSI minimum ultimate tensile strength.
The American Petroleum Institute specification API 5L addresses seamless and welded steel line pipe for pipeline transportation systems in the petroleum and natural gas industries. API 5L is suitable for conveying gas, water, and oil.
Grades covered by this specification are A25, A, B and “X” Grades X42, X46, X52, X56, X60, X65, X70, and X80. The two digit number following the “X” indicates the Minimum Yield Strength (in 000’s psi) of pipe produced to this grade.
Related Standard & Specification: API, DNV, ISO, DEP, EN, ASTM, DIN, BS, JIS, GB Related Grade: API 5L A-X80, GB/T9711 L190-L555, ASTM A106/A53/A179/A192/A335/A333, DIN1629/17175, JIS G3454/ 3455/3456 Available Approved Marine: ABS/BV/LR/DNV/GL/KR, EN10204 3.2 MTC Special Service: Sweet Service, Sour Service, Anti-H2S, NACE MR0175/ISO15156 Produce Process: Cold Drawn, Hot Rolled, Hot Expanded Available Dimension Range: Available Length: 3-36 Meters
The quality level of all Steel Line Pipe, API 5L X52 PSL2 Pipe is guaranteed by a complete internal Quality plan and certificating under ISO-9001, TUV (according to AD 2000-Merkblatt W0/TRD100), API, PED (accordance with Pressure Equipment Directive 97/23/EC), Burst test (Det Norske Veritas), and certainly Lloyds and Stoomwezen.
Tubes for transportation of flammable fluids are made of the following steels, according to EN 10208-1: L210GA, L235GA, L245GA, L290GA, L360GA, according to EN 10208-2: L245NB, L290NB, L360NB, L415NB and according to API 5L: Grade A, Grade B, Grade X42, Grade X46, Grade X52, Grade X60. Additional types of steel (according to DIN 2470-1/1629 and 2470-2/17172 and UNI 7088) together with its chemicals composition and mechanical properties are shown in a separate overview.. Steel is made in the electric arc furnace and it is fully killed.
Usually API 5L X52 PSL2 Pipe are supplied as hot rolled. Only tubes with DN 6 -10, perhaps tubes of other dimensions are supplied as cold drawn and after forming they are heat treated. This is done as per precious agreement. The tube surface meets corresponds to the means of manufacturing.
Tubes are visually straight.
Ends of tubes are smooth, without threads. From 60.3 diameter beveled according to standards: DIN, EN – a = 40° – 60°, c = to 2 mm ASME – a = 75° ± 5°, c = 1,6 ± 0,8 mm
Tubes with diameter up to 1 ½” are marked with label on the bundle. Tubes with larger diameter than 1 ½” are implemented according to directives or upon request.
Line pipes are supplied without temporary protection against corrosion. Upon request it is possible to deliver tubes with agreed upon anticorrosion protection. The tube ends may be enclosed by a plastic plug.
API X Grades – some of the sturdiest pipes and tubing available designed for extreme environments or exceedingly high pressure environments
