Specification of ASTM API 5 L GR X52 STEEL PIPE

API 5L X52

Grade X52 indicates 52000 PSI minimum yield strength and 66000 PSI minimum ultimate tensile strength.

API Standard Specification for Line Pipe

The American Petroleum Institute specification API 5L addresses seamless and welded steel line pipe for pipeline transportation systems in the petroleum and natural gas industries. API 5L is suitable for conveying gas, water, and oil.

Grades covered by this specification are A25, A, B and “X” Grades X42, X46, X52, X56, X60, X65, X70, and X80. The two digit number following the “X” indicates the Minimum Yield Strength (in 000’s psi) of pipe produced to this grade.

API 5L X52 PSL2 Pipe features:

  • The American Petroleum Institute specification API 5L covers seamless and welded steel line pipe.

  • API 5L, 45th Edition / ISO 3183

  • This is steel pipe for pipeline transportation systems in the petroleum and natural gas industries

  • API 5L X52 PSL2 Pipe is suitable for conveying gas, water, and oil.

  • API 5L X52 PSL2 Pipe, high yield seamless pipes, modified to suit offshore structural purposes.

  • Suitable for weldable structural steels for fixed offshore structures

  • Ashtapad’s seamless and extra long ERW API 5L Line Pipe for dependable transmission of oil and gas to any type of collection and distribution point.

  • As only the edges are heated, the tube possesses dean accurate surface.

  • Safety is better than smls pipe.

  • The cost is cheaper than smls pipe and LSAW pipe.

  • Manufacturing speed is quicker than seamless pipe or sub merged welded pipes.

API 5L X52 PSL2 Pipe – delivery condition and surface

Usually API 5L X52 PSL2 Pipe are supplied as hot rolled. Only tubes with DN 6 -10, perhaps tubes of other dimensions are supplied as cold drawn and after forming they are heat treated. This is done as per precious agreement. The tube surface meets corresponds to the means of manufacturing.

API 5L X52 PSL2 Pipe – straightness

Tubes are visually straight.

Ends of the API 5L X52 PSL2 Pipe

Ends of tubes are smooth, without threads.

From 60.3 diameter beveled according to standards:

DIN, EN – a = 40° – 60°, c = to 2 mm

ASME – a = 75° ± 5°, c = 1,6 ± 0,8 mm

Marking of API 5L X52 PSL2 Pipe and tube bundles

Tubes with diameter up to 1 ½” are marked with label on the bundle. Tubes with larger diameter than 1 ½” are implemented according to directives or upon request.

API 5L X52 PSL2 Pipe – surface protection

Line pipes are supplied without temporary protection against corrosion. Upon request it is possible to deliver tubes with agreed upon anticorrosion protection. The tube ends may be enclosed by a plastic plug.

API X Grades – some of the sturdiest pipes and tubing available designed for extreme environments or exceedingly high pressure environments
